NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is India’s open school board that offers flexible learning and examination for students who want to complete Class 10 (Secondary) outside the regular school system.
Admission Cycles & Dates
There are two admission blocks in a year:
Block-1 – March/April exams
Block-2 – October/November exams
Eligibility Criteria
To take admission in NIOS Class 10 (Secondary):
✔️ Minimum Age: You must be at least 14 years old by 31 January / July (depending on the exam cycle).
✔️ Educational Requirement: Passed Class 8th from any recognized school. In some cases, a self-declaration of learning is accepted in place of Class 8 mark sheet.

Keep these scanned copies ready before starting the online application:
🧾 Essential Documents
- Passport-size recent colour photograph
- Signature scan (preferably in black ink)
- Identity Proof: Aadhaar card / Passport / Ration card / etc.
- Birth proof: Birth Certificate or Aadhaar with DOB or previous class mark sheet showing DOB
- Address Proof: Aadhaar with address / water bill / voter ID / electricity bill / ration card
- Class 8th mark sheet (or 8th pass certificate / self-declaration if allowed) — for 10th admission
- Caste certificate (if SC/ST/OBC – optional but helpful)
- Disability certificate (if applicable)
- Ex-serviceman certificate (if applicable)
